Aim and mission
The SIOSS Journal of Sport Science is an electronic, peer-reviewed scientific journal addressing current issues in sport, published with the goal of advancing sport knowledge through research and expertise.
SJSS seeks to provide readers with up-to-date information comprising advances in all areas of sport. Published articles include both detailed scientific methods and guided conclusions geared towards sports professionals, allowing for immediate application in the field.

Criteria for publication
To be published in SJSS, a paper should:
- Provide strong evidence for its conclusions.
- Be novel.
- Be of importance to scientists in sport science.
- Ideally, be interesting to researchers in other disciplines related to sport science.
- Represent an advance in understanding likely to influence thinking in sport science.
The main criteria for accepting a manuscript are originality, innovation, and scientific importance and interest. To promote international collaboration, the journal encourages submissions that present the results of collaborative research from more than one country.
Open access
Every article published by SJSS is open access: the full text is freely available to readers on this website, without subscription or registration. The journal ensures that published articles remain properly displayed and available to readers.
Funding and commercial policy
The journal’s activities are financed by publication fees paid by authors. SJSS does not accept donations, grants or advertisements from commercial organisations, in order to keep the publication of research unbiased.
Publication fees
The publication fee is USD 100 per paper. Payment details are sent to the author by email. For questions, contact the editorial office at hello@sioss.se.
Publication ethics
Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. Reviewers who believe that submitted material is not original or has been plagiarised are asked to alert the handling editor.
